POLICE LAUNCHES MANHUNT FOR SUSPECTED KILLER

Police in Kasama have launched a manhunt in a case involving Murder, Aggravated Robbery and Rape which occurred today between 02:00 hours and 04 at Kalense toll gate in Kasama.
Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga says the incident involved a Police officer under Protective Unit Wilson Lungu 28, who was shot twice in the chest and left leg by unknown criminals and died on the spot.
Mr. Hamoonga told ZNBC news in a statement while on duty with two women toll collectors, employees of National Road Fund Agency in Kasama, they were attacked by unknown armed criminals.
He said what transpired was recorded on the CCTV footage.
Mr. Hamoonga said the criminal grabbed an AK 47 rifle with 30 rounds of Ammunition, and further threatened the two toll collectors to open the safe and stole over 38-thousand Kwacha, a cell phone for the officer and two cell phones, belonging to the toll collectors.
He said the criminal abducted the two toll collectors as he ordered them to take off the National Road Fund Agency -NFRA reflective jackets and took them in the nearby bush about 2-hundred metres away from the toll gate where he raped them.
Mr. Hamoonga said the body of the officer has been deposited in Kasama General Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem while the victims of rape were rushed to the Hospital for treatment.
He charged that police will use all legal means to ensure the culprits are brought to book.
