PRESIDENT HICHILEMA WILL NOT ACT ON RUMOUR
By Brian Mwale:
State House says President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA will not act based on rumours over an audio implicating his Political Advisor, LEVY NGOMA and Home Affairs Permanent Secretary JOSEPH AKAFUMBA until investigations are done.
Presidential Spokesperson ANTHONY BWALYA says the President will also not issue any statement on the matter until investigations to ascertain the authenticity of the voices are concluded.
And Mr. BWALYA has dispelled rumors that President HICHILEMA has fired the two.
He says the statement making rounds on social media purported to have been issued by him is mere propaganda being peddled by toxic people against the UPND administration.
Addressing the media at State House today, Mr. BWALYA also stated that the UPND administration has allowed democracy to flourish as evidenced with the freedom exhibited by the opposition in holding press briefings without any heavy police presence.
He also said the President has urged police to freely carry out their duties in dealing with perpetrators of violence in Kasama adding that no one using the name of the party will be shielded.
Meanwhile, Mr. BWALYA said the UPND has started implementing its campaign promises of free education as all pupils from Grades 1 to 12 have reported for class today.
He said this will enhance access to education for all while having a positive economic impact on parents who will not spend anything.
Mr. BWALYA further noted that various incentives have been given to teachers such as a 12 percent salary increment given to all civil servants and planned recruitment of 30-thousand teachers to relieve them of the pressure.
He said the UPND government has also committed to start the construction of 1-hundred and 20 schools this year.
And Mr. BWALYA said President HICHILEMA is impressed with the various Memoranda of Understanding signed between the Zambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry -ZACCI- and Chamber of Commerce in the United Arab Emirates during the recent Dubai 2020 Expo which h
attended.
He said the President expressed optimism that the MoUs will enhance trade and investments between Zambia and the UAE.
