By Christopher Miti
New Ndola Diocese Catholic Bishop Benjamin Phiri has thanked President Edgar Lungu for supporting the establishment of Catholic run Lumezi nursing school.
Bishop Phiri says the head of state has privately supported the school ever since he learnt of the Catholic Church’s plans to set up a nursing school.
He says the nursing school will go a long way in helping the country to produce more health workers.
Bishop Phiri was speaking when he bade farewell to Chipata Diocese where he worked as Auxiliary Bishop since 2011.
And Eastern Province Minister Makebi Zulu said the government and the Catholic Church have continued working together on projects that have benefited the citizens.
Meanwhile Chipata Diocese Bishop George Lungu thanked Bishop Phiri for his service.
