
Radiation Authority Screens 46,185 Imported Cars
By Austin Mwale-The Radiation Protection Authority has screened over 46,185 imported motor vehicles.
This has been done to ensure that the vehicles being imported in the country are free of Radioactive materials.
Authority Chief Executive Officer Boster Siwila says the motor vehicles were screened at both Kasumbalasa and Nakonde border posts.
Mr. Siwila has told ZNBC News that the authority also inspected 285 facilities that have potential to emit radioactive particles to ensure that they operate according to regulations .
Meanwhile, Mr. Siwila has disclosed that in an effort to effectively carry out the authority’s mandate, government has approved the Web Based System meant to monitor trucks carrying materials containing radioactive particles.
He said this will help the authority to ensure drivers using the monitored trucks not to divert to other unregistered destinations.
