Remove input trade barriers- Kakubo
Bernard Nkweto-Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister, STANLEY KAKUBO has called for support to food producers and removal of input trade barriers.
Mr. KAKUBO also called for the facilitation of the unhindered food trade by building consensus among all UN Member States, and commitment to avoid export restrictions that exacerbate global food prices.
He says there is in need to focus on efficient use of fertilizers, repurposing public policies expenditures to better support farmers.
Mr. KAKUBO said this during the Global Food Security Call to Action High Level Ministerial Meeting hosted by the United States, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
The Minister said that the number of food insecure people has worsened since 2019 due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine.
Mr. KAKUBO said Zambia propagates peace through diplomatic means and further called for collaboration between UN member states and various stakeholders to pursue diplomacy in resolving differences.
He reiterated Zambia’s commitment to the global community’s support of peaceful settlement of conflicts and finding durable solutions to the humanitarian needs of people displaced around the world.
