REVAMP THE COOPERATIVE SECTOR-NASCU

The National Association of Savings and Credit Unions -NASCU- says there is need to revamps and enhance the cooperative sector to enable the country create employment in line with President Hakainde Hichilema’s vision.
NASCU Chief Operating Officer, Febian Mubuyoeta says President Hichilema, who is himself a successful business man, fully understands how the cooperative movement generates income and job creation.
Speaking to ZANIS in a walk in interview in Lusaka today, Mr. Mubuyoeta says world over, cooperatives have shown success in job opportunities and wealth creation.
He stressed that the UNDP and the ILO have also decided to include cooperative aspects into their programs because associations eradicate poverty.
Mr Mubuyoeta further said that NASCU will in due course, once Cabinet is formed meet the Minister of commerce to see how well the cooperative industry can be enhanced.
NASCU is the Apex Body for all Savings and Credit Cooperatives and shareholders in the organization are member Savings and Credit Cooperatives whose membership is over 500 cooperatives.
