ROTARY CLUB TOLD TO PARTNER WITH GOVT
Commerce, Trade and Industry minister CHIPOKA MULENGA has challenged the Rotary club to partner with government in addressing the critical shortage of desks that has hit most schools across the country following the introduction of the free education policy
Mr. MULENGA says getting an education was a far fetched dream for most children in Zambia because they did not have an opportunity to go to class.
He however notes that this is now a reality under President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA.
The Minister says most of the schools across the country are currently filled with pupils receiving an education while seated on the floor, a situation which must be addressed urgently by all stakeholders.
Mr. MULENGA who is Nchanga Member of Parliament was speaking during the induction of ARTHUR MWAPE as Chingola Rotary club President last night.
He urged the Rotary club and other service organizations’ to drill twenty bore holes in Chingola’s peri-urban areas to improve water supply.
And Mr. MWAPE pledged to help government complete most of the stalled community projects in the area.
Mr. MWAPE said his club will prioritize projects focusing on improving access to water.
Meanwhile Immediate past President RAPHEAL KAUSENI disclosed that during his tenure the Rotary Club managed to plant twenty thousand trees to preserve the environment.
