SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY TO PROMOTE INNOVATION
Government says it will place premium on science and technology to promote innovation and contribute to sustainable development.
Technology and Science Minister FELIX MUTATI says Government will also increase investments in science, research and technology, while encouraging participation by the private sector.
Mr. MUTATI says his Ministry has adopted 5 pillars as its strategic focus, which includes creating an enabling environment by putting in a policy and legal framework that will support a digital economy.
He adds that Government will put in place measures that will promote affordable access to digital infrastructure through enhanced connectivity, smart gadgets and service quality.
Mr. MUTATI was speaking during the stakeholders meeting on the strategic direction for digital transformation and targets for the first 1 hundred days.
Meanwhile, Technology and Science Permanent Secretary KAYULA SIAME said the Ministry in its first 1 hundred days will implement talent competition programs.
Ms. SIAME said the Ministry will also pilot the 5G technology in Lusaka.
And Robotics Association of Zambia President CHILUWATA LUNGU said technology and science have the potential to attract massive investments in the Country.
Dr. LUNGU said Zambia is blessed with a lot of talented youths and the Ministry will play a key role in bringing out their potential to institutions that will help them to develop.
