Seize Tourism Potential,Mapuwo Urges Youth
Livingstone mayor Eugene Mapuwo has urged the youth in the district to take advantage of the many available opportunities to participate in the tourism sector.
Mr. Mapuwo says there is so much potential in the tourism sector that the youth can harness to better their lives.
He says the council is open to listen and give land to the youth with good business ideas.
Mr. Mapuwo said this during a youth dialogue forum organized by the Zambia-United States Alumni Association – ZUEA, and the Livingstone Chamber of Commerce.
And Livingstone Chamber of Commerce President, Namakau Sianga, said the chamber has prioritised youth participation in economic development.
Mrs. Sianga said all the youth need to do is to change their mindset and engage the chamber of commerce on the available business opportunities in the district.
Meanwhile, one of the discussants, Ruth Hensen, implored the youth to take advantage of the internet to network, learn skills and look for business opportunities.
Another discussant, Daniel Sichilongo, also urged the youth to take keen interest in the destination management plan, which he says is a master plan that aims at unlocking the tourism potential of Livingstone.
