SIMON MWANSA KAPWEPWE AIRPORT CERTIFIED
By Frank Ching’ambu:
The Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport in Ndola on the Copperbelt has been certified by the Civil Aviation Authority.
And Civil Aviation Authority Director-General, Gabriel Lesa has handed the certificate to the Zambia Airports Corporation.
Mr Lesa says the presentation of the certificate follows a thorough scrutiny undertaken by the Civil Aviation Authority, which started on February 7, 2020.
Mr. Lesa was speaking today, during the operationalisation ceremony of the Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport.
Meanwhile, Transpot and Logistics Minister, Frank Tayali said his Ministry will engage various stakeholders to ensure bottlenecks making the aviation transport expensive in Zambia are addressed.
Mr Tayali said Zambia remains the only country in the region with the highest cost of jet fuel, therefore more aircrafts do not refuel from here.
