STAKEHOLDERS TIP GOVT ON MINISTRIES
Zambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry President, CHABUKA KAWESHA has advised newly appointed Ministers to avoid spending more time on familiarisation tours.
In an interview, Dr. KAWESHA has also appealed to President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA, to consider getting rid of the position of District Commissioner.
Dr. KAWESHA has said the ministers need to immediately get to work because there is a lot to do to develop the country.
Meanwhile, Dr. KAWESHA has expressed gratitude with the introduction of Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises, as well as Technology and Science.
And the Zambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry-ZACCI- says President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has set a good start to real industrialisation where various sectors will be encouraged to contribute to national economic development.
ZACCI president CHABUKA KAWESHA says President HICHILEMA has presented a clear road map for enhancing private sector participation in revamping the economy.
Dr KAWESHA says the focus on decentralisation is timely as it will enhance the capacity of the local authorities while fostering service provision.
He was speaking in an interview with ZNBC News at Parliament building after the ceremonial opening of the first session of the 13th National Assembly.
And the Higher Education stakeholders have welcomed the re-establishment of the Ministry of Technology and Science.
In an interview with ZNBC News, University of Zambia -UNZA- lecturer, MUSUSU KAONDA says the ministry is key to enhancing access to market for young innovators.
And Evelyn Hone College Principal, CEPHAS CHABU is happy with the coming back of the ministry, saying the institution hopes to innovate in science and technology, through young people.
Meanwhile, Basic Education Teachers Union of Zambia General Secretary, HENRY SINKALA said government should adequately fund the re-introduced Ministry.
The Zambia United Local Authorities Workers Union -ZULAWU- says it expects the new government to prioritise the Ministry of Local Government.
ZULAWU General Secretary, EMMANUEL MWINSA says this is because the Ministry is a vehicle through which government will fulfill its developmental agenda.
And Mr MWINSA has commended Minister by President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA for appointing GARRY NKOMBO, as Minister of Local Government.
Speaking at a press briefing in Ndola, Mr MWINSA has noted that Mr NKOMBO is a seasoned politician with vast experience in matters pertaining to the local government system.
