SUMAILI CONDEMNS UNPALATABLE LANGUAGE
By Sharon Kunda-National Guidance and Religious Affairs Minister Godfridah Sumaili has expressed disappointment with the unpalatable language being peddled in the country in advancing political mileage.
Reverend Sumaili is concerned with a video circulating on social media where a woman alleged to be at a political meeting in Petauke District – Eastern Province was insulting area Member of Parliament Dora Siliya who is also Information and Broadcasting Ser
ices Minister.
The minister has since appealed to all aspiring candidates from both the opposition and ruling parties to be civil as they conduct their political campaigns.
She says mudslinging, name-calling and character assassination should not be used as a basis of convincing voters.
Speaking during a press briefing in Lusaka today, Reverend Sumaili noted that it is unacceptable and uncultured for any person to insult a leader regardless of their political interest.
She said Zambians are looking forward to issue-based campaign messages and strategies that give confidence in their leaders and a better country.
Rev. Sumaili said the people of Zambia aspire to see a nation full of love and respect for one another.
She has further called on Civil Society Organisations championing women causes to be consistent in condemning demeaning acts towards women.
