
“THERE IS UNTAPPED RESOURCE IN PRIVATE SECTOR”

Finance Minister SITUMBEKO MUSOKOTWANE says there is untapped resource in the private sector for economic growth.
Dr. MUSOKOTWANE says this is why Government has created platforms such as the Public Private Dialogue Forum -PPDF.
In a speech read on his behalf by his Permanent Secretary for Monitoring and Evaluation TREVOR KAUNDA, the Finance Minister added that the private sector should take advantage of the enabling policy environment to expand their businesses.
Dr. MUSOKOTWANE said this during the official opening of the Sensitization Workshop on leveraging private sector engagement in implementing the 8th National Development Plan and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals-SDG’s.
The Workshop was organized in collaboration with the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa -UNECA.
Speaking at the same event, United Nations-UN- Resident Coordinator BEATRICE MUTALI said the private sector can be the answer to respond to funding challenges affecting the implementation of the 8th NDP.
This was in a speech read on her behalf by UNECA Director for the Sub Region Office EUNICE KAMWENDO.
Also speaking at the same event, Zambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry-ZACCI- Chief Executive Officer PHIL DAKA called on the private sector to invest in areas that address poverty alleviation in all parts of the country.
