Three people arrested for corruption involving US$800,000.

The Anti- Corruption Commission -ACC- has arrested and charged three people for corruption involving US$800,000.
The three are CHASIYA KAZEMBE, a Coordinator at the National Authorising Office to the European Development Fund, MWANSA CHITOSHI an entrepreneur and Lusaka Lawyer BWALYA CHITI.
ACC Chief Corporate Affairs Officer TIMOTHY MOONO has confirmed in a statement to ZNBC news this evening.
Mr. MOONO said Ms. KAZEMBE, 52, has been charged with one count of Abuse of Authority of Office and one count of Conspiracy to defraud the Government.
He said between December 2018 and December 2020 in Lusaka, Ms. KAZEMBE abused the authority of her office in the manner she obtained an advantage for former Secretary to the Treasury FREDSON YAMBA by allocating him an institutional vehicle for the National Authorising Office which he was not entitled to.
Mr. MOONO said the suspect in the second count between June 2018 and December 2019 did conspire to defraud the Government of US$800,000 through the National Authorising Office for the European Development Fund.
He said this was done by purchasing an Office building in Kabulonga Lusaka at FIVE million dollars instead of US$4.2 million.
And Mr. MOONO said MWANSA CHITOSHI, has been charged with one count of Abuse of Authority, one count of Conspiracy to Defraud the Government and one count of Obtaining Money by False Pretences.
He said the 43 year old being a project officer at the Ministry of Health under the Health Systems Strengthening Project -HSSP- funded by the European Union, abused the authority of her office by obtaining information relating to the purchase of the building among others.
Mr. MOONO also noted that Lusaka Lawyer BWALYA CHITI 68, has been charged with one count of Conspiracy to Defraud the Government and one count of Impersonating an Advocate of the High Court as he facilitated for the sale of the said building.
He said the three suspects have been released on bond and will appear in court soon.
