Tobacco Board of Zambia buys 300,000 Kg’s of tobbaco
Reuben Chomba-The Tobacco Board of Zambia -TBZ- has bought 3- hundred thousand kilograms of tobacco from farmers in Eastern Province that failed to sell the product during the 2020-2021 farming season.
TBZ Chief Executive Officer JAMES KASONGO says this has been done in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture to ensure farmers are helped to sell their tobacco for last season.
Mr. KASONGO has since encouraged farmers to grow more tobacco as the board has readily available market for them.
Speaking to ZNBC News in Lusaka today, Mr. KASONGO disclosed that 19 thousand 8 hundred farmers have since sold their tobacco to the board.
He also disclosed that all the farmers have been paid their money for the produce supplied to the board.
Over 20 thousand farmers grew tobacco in the 2020-2021 farming season.
