TOKYO BOUND ATHLETES WILL SUCCEEED

Government says it is confident all athletes who have qualified for the Tokyo Olympic Games will mint medals.
Ministry of Sports Permanent secretary John Phiri says he is confident that the contingent traveling to Japan will bring medals and sell the country’s sports portfolio.
Phiri was speaking during the send-off ceremony for the Zambian Olympic contingent held at the Japanese Ambassador’s residence in Lusaka today.
He said Government will by all means give the necessary support to athletes so that they can adequately prepare for the games that commence in July.
And Japanese Ambassador to Zambia Mizuuchi Ryuta said his Government is committed to ensuring that Zambian athletes get the required support.
Ryuta said his country is making all efforts possible to ensure that the games are held this year after being postponed last year due to the Adverse effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
And National Olympic Committee of Zambia -NOCZ- Secretary General Boniface Kambikambi said the Olympic movement is determined to ensure that all athletes are ready for the Olympics.
Meanwhile Shepolopolo captain Barbara Banda assured the delegates that the athletes will work hard and deliver according to the expectations.
