TOURISM MINISTRY TO MARKET MUMBULUMA FALLS
By Mwila Nsofu-Tourism and Arts Permanent Secretary, Patrick Lungu says the Ministry will ensure the public is made aware of the existence of the Mumbuluma Water Falls on Luongo River, in Chief Chama’s area of Kawambwa District.
The falls which has not yet been declared as a National Monument, is the third of the known Mumbuluma Waterfalls which are in Mansa and Mporokoso Districts.
Speaking after walking to the site for over 30 minutes, Mr. Lungu said it is a lesson that the Ministry has a lot of work to unveil different magnificent Waterfalls across the country.
Mr. Lungu said years after the discovery of different waterfalls in the country, very few Zambians know the Mumbuluma Water Falls on Luongo River in Kawambwa District.
And, Mr. Lungu said it is unfortunate that the site has no access road.
And, Headman Kota, who spoke passionately about the waterfall, said the site is important to the local people.
Meanwhile, Mr. Lungu is impressed with the concession that the National Heritage Conservation Commission -NHCC- entered into with Sparrow Hotel limited, a Zambian Investor at Lufubu Falls in Luwingu District.
The investor has put up infrastructure such as a mini mart, and accommodation near the Lufubu Waterfalls as a way of complimenting the area.
And National Heritage Conservation Commission -NHCC- Northern Region Director Kagosi Mwamulowe said the partnership with Sparrow Hotel Limited is aimed at adding value to the Lufubu Falls.
