UPND ALLIANCE CLEARS AIR
By Etambuyu Katuta:
UPND Alliance Spokesperson DANIEL SIMUNZA says the conglomerate of opposition political parties that held a press conference to criticise government is not being objective.
Dr. SIMUNZA says the UPND has not in any way abandoned its promises to transform the country through democratic practice.
He says the government is already implementing its campaign promised.
Dr. SIMUNZA says part of the New Dawn’s democratic political dispensation is to ensure everyone or political groupings have the right to an honest conversation about what they wish to propagate in a free and fair atmosphere as long as it falls in the confines of the law.
He says the majority of citizens are in agreement that the country was in the last ten years bleeding through corruption and the breakdown of the rule of law.
Dr. SIMUNZA says President HICHILEMA wants to ensure all those involved or suspected to be involved in financial and economic crimes are brought to book and in a lawful way made to account for their misdeeds.
He says the President has also assured time and again that he will not interfere with investigations by law enforcement agencies to deal with their work professionally.
In a statement issued to ZNBC News in Lusaka today, Dr. SIMUNZA said the Alliance is however shocked at the rising and sustained chorus on why or why not certain individuals have been called for interviews, warned and cautioned or arrested for various crime.
He said it is not the job of the President to prosecute.
Dr. SIMUNZA has since urged the opposition to offer proper checks and balances.
