Veep launches Kaputa Water Sanitation Project
Zanis-Vice President MUTALE NALUMANGO has commissioned the 1-hundred and 61 million kwacha Kaputa water and sanitation project in Kaputa District, Northern Province.
Speaking during the launch, Mrs NALUMANGO said access to clean and safe water is top priority on the UPND Administration’s agenda.
She said life and human development cannot exist without natural resources like water as it is key in supporting human, animal and plant growth.
The Vice President said this development is key in reducing disease burden in the area.
And Northern province Minister LEONARD MBAO said Kaputa District has for a long time experienced poor water supply and sanitation.
Mr MBAO said the newly commissioned infrastructure will address the water challenges in the district.
Water development Minister MIKE MPOSHYA said the launch of the water supply and sanitation project is a clear demonstration of government’s commitment to achieve universal access to clean water.
And speaking on behalf of the contractor Tomorrow Investment, company commercial manager CHAMABONDO CHANSHI said the scope of works included water treatment, transmission, and provision of access roads, sewer lines and sewer ponds.
Kaputa Member of parliament ELVIS NKANDU advised community members to safeguard the infrastructure.
