VEEP MEETS MONGU BUSINESS COMMUNITY
By Michael Kaumba- Vice President INONGE WINA says government has identified partners to work with in transforming rural resettlement schemes into agro-processing centres and industrial hubs.
Mrs. WINA says currently there is about one million hectares of arable land which is undeveloped because of lack of capital investment in resettlement areas.
Speaking in MONGU at a business meeting with the Western Province Chamber of Commerce, Mrs. WINA said government wants to use the Africa Free Trade Area agreement, by turning resettlement schemes into productive export processing centres.
She has lauded the Southern African Business Development Forum for partnering with government in aiming to turn rural areas into food and livestock producing centres for export to neighbouring countries.
At the same occasion, the BAROTSE Royal Establishment challenged local people to seize opportunities presented by the Southern African Business Development Forum and become exporters of processed food items, poultry and livestock to ANGOLA.
NGAMBELA MANYANDO MINYOYI said local businesspeople must help uplift the living standards of people in the province by creating employment and wealth for the locals.
He said he is hopeful that through the partnership with the Southern African Business Development Forum, the economic fortunes of Western province will be transformed for the better in the next five years.
