VEEP’s QUESTION TIME

Vice President Mutale Nalumango says the new dawn administration has no intention to cause by-elections or deny people their freedom of expression.
Mrs. Nalumango says the decision on who independent members of Parliament decide to support lies solely with them.
She says the new Administration will work with anyone who wishes to support Government in bringing about development in the country.
Mrs. Nalumango said this in parliament today during the Vice President’s Question time in response to a question by Kantanshi Member of Parliament Anthony Mumba who wanted a response to allegations that the UPND Government is soliciting support from Independent Members of Parliament.
And Mrs. Nalumango has told Parliament that the Ministry of Local Government is revisiting some of the decisions that were made in relation to land given out in forest reserves to see whether this was done correctly.
She said Government will give directional policy once the process is completed and that the rule of law will be upheld in arriving at the decision.
Mrs. Nalumango said this in response to a question by Mwembeshi Member of Parliament Machila Jamba who wanted to find out if Government will revisit titles that were issued to people in Kawena Forest in Mwembeshi.
Meanwhile, the Vice President said politicians issuing tribal remarks should be condemned as the act is not only illegal but immoral.
Mrs. Nalumango urged the members of parliament not to divide the country based on tribal basis.
She said the law should take its course against anyone issuing tribal or racist remarks.
And the Vice President said Government is working on improving the country’s power generation capacity to enable the country have sufficient supply for domestic use as well as for export.
Mrs. Nalumango said Government will put in place efficient managements in institutions charged with Energy and that these will ensure that the country’s natural resources are fully exploited to put an end to load shedding.
