Vubwi council chairperson candidates file in nominations
Christopher Miti-Three candidates have succesfully filed in nominations for the Vubwi District Council chairperson by-election .
The by-election was caused by the death of Joshua Daka last month.
PF has fielded Vincent Mwale, UPND has fielded Given Sakala while the MMD has fielded Faindani Mbewe.
PF deputy secretary general Mumbi Phiri, Local Government Minister Charles Banda who is also campaign manager, Eastern Province PF chairperson Andrew Lubusha, Eastern Province Minister Makebi Zulu led the ruling party delegation which escorted Mr Mwale.
Mr Mwale who filed his nomination at 12:30 hours says he is confident of scooping the seat.
Provincial UPND chairperson Johabie Mtonga led the UPND delegation which witnessed Mr Sakala’s nomination.
Mr Sakala says the ground is fertile for him to win the by-election.
MMD provincial chairperson Yoram Jere led members who escorted Mr Mbewe.
Mr Mbewe says the New Hope MMD will win the seat.
Over 18 Thousand voters from the old Electoral Commission of Zambia register are eligible to vote in this by-election which is slated for 4th February 2021.
