VULNERABLE HOUSEHOLDS GET EMERGENCY SUPPORT- MULENGA
By Tamara Muswala
The Ministry of Community Development, with support from development partners, has started the implementation of emergency support to households severely hit by the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
Minister of Community Development Kampamba Mulenga says the emergency support which is in the form of cash transfers and food packs is a temporary social safety net that government has introduced to mitigate the impact of the pandemic to vulnerable households.
Ms. Mulenga said this in Kalulushi yesterday when she empowered over 25 clubs consisting of women and the youth.
She gave 10-Thousand Kwacha cash to the clubs as start-up capital for various business ventures to support their livelihood.
And the minister also announced that 100 individual members of the clubs will be trained in livestock production, after which they will receive village chickens.
The clubs have thanked government for the support, saying it will go a long way in helping to improve their livelihoods.
