The Ministry of Tourism and Arts has constituted the Wildlife Management Licensing Committee which will help with the conservation and management of wildlife in the country.
Tourism and Arts Minister Ronald Chitotela says the committee is critical in the management and licensing of wildlife products for economic benefits to the nation while maintaining sustainable conservation of wildlife resources.
Mr. Chitotela said the committee will be expected to come up with innovations that will respond to emerging challenges impacting on the performance of the wildlife sector.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, the Tourism Minister said there is need for the licensing committee to acquaint itself with necessary legal provisions.
He has since directed the Department of National Parks and Wildlife to carry out orientation of members of the committee to ensure that the right people were picked.
Meanwhile, Licensing committee Chairperson Annel Phiri has assured the Minister that members of the committee are equal to the task.
