Zambia National Public Health Institute -ZNPHI Director- Communication, Information and Research, MAZYANGA LIWEWE has urged women in the country to take responsibility for their health by getting vaccinated against the Covid-19.
Ms. MAZYANGA in an interview with ZNBC News in Livingstone said there is a tendency by women in the country to depend on the views of their partners when making decisions and this has disadvantaged them from accessing quality health care.
She says the Covid 19 third wave saw a number of deaths in the country of people who were not protected through vaccinations hence the need to take precautionary measures.
Ms. MAZYANGA adds that following cultural beliefs that are detrimental to one’s health should be discouraged because health is cardinal in living a quality life.
She has also called on men to be supportive of their women to ensure they access health care whenever needed instead of discouraging them.
Ms. MAZYANGA said the Covid 19 vaccination is an important protection against severe disease.
Zambia only has about three percent of the eligible population in the country fully vaccinated against the Covid-19.
