WORKERS COMPENSATION TRAINS YOUNG BENEFICIARIES
By Justine Kawisha
The Workers Compensation Fund Control Board has started sponsoring young beneficiaries for tertiary programmes to rebuild their lives after occupational accidents.
Workers Compensation Chief Executive Officer PRISCILLA BWEMBYA says out of the 19-thousand 3-hundred beneficiaries that her institution has, a number of them are young and can serve the country in various fields once supported.
Mrs. BWEMBYA has disclosed that the Workers Compensation is also building houses for more than one hundred beneficiaries that are highly disabled and can neither work nor support themselves.
She says the highly disabled beneficiaries will also be getting one thousand kwacha per month on top of their allocation.
Speaking when she visited the beneficiaries in Kasempa this morning, Mrs. BWEMBYA explained that her institution is the Last family that remains for a worker who suffers an occupational accident.
And Labour Minister BRENDA TAMBATAMBA said there is need to define best safety practices in work places so that accidents are minimized.
Ms. TAMBATAMBA who is also Kasempa area member of Parliament urged beneficiaries in her area to use their allocation prudently to better their lives.
