WW1 CENTENARY: COMMONWEALTH INVOLVED
The Northern Province Administration has praised the Commonwealth War Graves Commission for supporting the preparations of the First World War Centenary Commemorations scheduled to take place in Mbala.
Regional Permanent Secretary Elias Kamanga says a team of experts is in Mbala district to refurbish the Cenotaph to its original state in readiness for the event.
Mr. Kamanga says works on the Cenotaph are scheduled to be completed by Friday, this week.
He also noted that the Centenary Commemoration presents an opportunity for the province to market its tourism potential.
Mr. Kamanga said Mbala and the surrounding districts have massive investment opportunities in sectors such as agriculture, mining, energy and tourism which have not been fully exploited.
He was speaking when he led a team of journalists in Northern Province on a tour of historical sites in Mbala in relation to the centenary Commemoration.
And Mbala District Commissioner Kedrick Sikombe said the Centenary will transform the district into a tourism destination and will help woo investors.
