WWF CONCERNED WITH DEFORESTATION

An international non-governmental organization championing the preservation of forests has expressed concern over the rate of deforestation in Zambia.
World Wide Fund for Nature- Zambia Acting Government Relations and Strategic Partnerships Manager MWEENE CHAAMBWA says the rate at which tree are being cut in Zambia is alarming.
Speaking to ZNBC News on the sidelines of the Forest Landscape Restoration Champions and influencers identification meeting, Mr. CHAAMBWA said current statistics places Zambia on number one in Africa and Fifth globally in terms of deforestation.
He said if the status quo is left unattended to, Zambia risks depleting most its forest cover in a few years to come.
Meanwhile Mr. CHAAMBWA has implored the media to explore and find ways of educating the masses on the importance of forest preservation.
He has noted that deforestation is an activity that as great effects on humans and deserve to be headline in daily news bulletins.
