YALUMA REITERATES AFCFTA COMMITMENT

Government says there is need to build necessary trading capacities for private sector growth and development for the successful implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement -AFCFTA.
Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister Christopher Yaluma says the AFCFTA presents immense opportunities for the private sector in Africa and will be a catalyst for the development and expansion of private enterprise.
Speaking when Secretary General of the AFCFTA Wamukele Mene called on him at his office in Lusaka today, Mr. Yaluma said Zambia is committed towards implementation of the agreement.
He said the Ministries of Finance and Commerce have already started working towards having the agreement domesticated.
And Mr. Mene has congratulated Zambia for ratifying the AFCFTA as well as presenting the offers.
He said there is need to find ways of making sure that benefits of the AFCFTA are shared by all countries on the African continent and have access.
Mr. Mene said there is need to give better opportunities to women and to young people who are in trade for AFCFTA to succeed.
He disclosed that AfroExim Bank is willing to invest up to 40 billion dollars in the initiative.
