
Zambia has capacity to ensure Africa is food secure-Veep
Ruth Chayinda-Vice President MUTALE NALUMANGO says Africa and Zambia has the capacity to ensure that the continent is food and nutrition secure.
Mrs. NALUMANGO says it is important that African leaders put their minds and resources together so that the continent attains zero hunger by 2030.
She says there is need for African countries to rethink food production, processing and distribution because Africa has what it takes to be food and nutrition secure.
The Vice President said this during the exhibition on the AU Theme- of the year 2022.
And AU- Economic Social and Cultural Council Head Secretariat WILLIAM CAREW said Africa must enhance its political commitment and investment in nutrition so that member states can come up with sustainable solutions.
And FSG General Manager GLEN McGREGOR said the company is ready to provide technical support to Zambia and countries where it is present to enhance food production.
Meanwhile, Africast Chief Executive Officer, CHIMWEMWE NYIRENDA said the hosting of the AU Summit should be a catalyst for Zambian businesses to thrive and create jobs.
