ZAMBIA, ZIM MINISTERS TO MEET OVER BATOKA GORGE HYDRO
The Zambezi River Authority will on Wednesday this week hold an Extra-Ordinary Council of Minister’s meeting in Livingstone on the development of the Batoka Gorge Hydro-Electric Scheme.
Zambezi River Authority Chief Executive Officer Munyaradzi Munodawafa has announced that the meeting will make decisions on the engineering feasibility study, legal and financial transaction advisory services and the environmental social impact assessment.
Mr Munodawafwa says the three reports are expected to be finalised by June 2019 after which the council of ministers is expected to receive an update on the expressions of interest for the development of the Batoka Gorge Hydro-Electric Scheme.
He said the council of ministers will also receive the road map to start construction works of the $5billion project.
This weeks’ meeting will be attended by Ministers of Energy and Finance, Attorney Generals of the two countries and officials of the Zambezi River Authority after a meeting of officials from Zesco and Zimbabwe Power Company.
