ZNBC APPEALS FOR SECURITY
By Etambuyu Katota;
ZNBC Kasama Senior Maintenance Engineer Charles Itamba has appealed to the police in the district to assist the ZNBC transmission center with 24-hour security services.
This comes in the wake of unknown people having broken into the ZNBC transmission center in Kasama, stealing 4 containers of 5 litters of engine oil used to power the standby genset at the center.
Mr. Itamba said ZNBC has very sensitive equipment procured at very high cost that needs to be safe guarded.
He says for the National Broadcaster to continue to provide quality services there is need to protect the equipment from unscrupulous individuals.
And Northern Province Police Commissioner Richard Mweene said police have intensified patrols in the area.
Mr. Mweene said police have been in touch with ZNBC in Kasama to ensure that the request for 24-hour police service is met.
He has further warned Kasama residents against engaging in lawlessness, saying they will be rounded up.
Meanwhile, Top Star Kasama Regional Technician Hebby Simataa disclosed that police had caught the culprits involved and they will appear in court soon.
Mr. Simataa added that the stolen property cannot however be recovered because it has been sold by the individuals.
