
ZNBC Opens Education Channel On Top Star
Government has challenged parents to encourage their children to watch the newly launched ZNBC Education Channel which is currently showing on TopStar Channel 9.
Ministry of General Education Permanent Secretary Jobbicks Kalumba says parents should not relent but take a role of teachers in homes.
Dr. Kalumba has told ZNBC News that the Ministry will ensure all the necessary lessons are provided on ZNBC TV4 for Children.
He said government will also print education materials on CDs to be distributed countrywide for the pupils.
Dr Kalumba said the printed education materials will supplement those that will be televised on TV and Radio in rural areas.
He said the closure of schools due to COVID-19 should not affect learning for the pupils.
And ZNBC Corporate Affairs Manager Yvvete Chanda said the corporation is committed to ensure Zambian Children benefit from the Education Channel in view of the covid -19 pandemic.
Speaking on ZNBC ‘s On Air programme, Mrs. Chanda said ZNBC will endeavour to ensure the channel continues even after the COVID -19 challenge.
Meanwhile, the introduction of the ZNBC Education TV Channel has elated parents and school going children.
Prisca Zulu, of Lusaka said the coming of the channel will ensure her son who is in Grade 9 catches up on missing lessons.
Speaking to ZNBC News in Lusaka, Mrs. Zulu said it has been difficult for her son to cope with the situation following the closure of schools.
Another parent Michael Phiri said the introduction of TV4 will go a long way in assisting his children prepare for exams.
The Education channel is under the flagship of ZNBC TV4 and is airing on TopStar channel 9 with content from the Ministry of General Education.
