Patriotic Front Secretary General Davies Mwila says the ruling party’s Central Committee is yet to decide on the fate of Former National Democratic Congress Spokesperson Eric Chanda who has applied to rejoin the party.
Mr. Mwila says Mr. Chanda wrote to the Party last month to rejoin the PF after his resignation in 2012.
He, however, says the PF constitution states that any person who resigned from the party and wants to rejoin must wait for two years before they can be re-admitted.
Mr. Mwila says this can however be subjected to the PF Central Committee which is chaired by the party President and can be over ruled.
He says once a full central Committee is convened, a decision on whether Mr. Chanda can rejoin the PF immediately or wait another two years can be made.
Mr. Mwila told Journalists in Chipata that President Edgar Lungu will also make a decision on who to appoint as the new Chairperson of Mines, after the removal of Commerce Minister Christopher Yaluma from the position for missing three meetings without notice.
Meanwhile, Mr. Mwila has announced that President Lungu is tomorrow expected in Kafue to drum up support for the PF candidate in the Kafue Chairperson Local Government by-election.
He said the President will attend a Church service, and later proceed to address Kafue residents at a rally.
Mr. Mwila is confident that the PF will win the seat after the resignation of the UPND Council Chairperson.
He also expressed confidence in the party scooping the Bahati and Roan parliamentary seats saying campaigns are running smoothly.
