Senior Chief Mushota of the Chishinga people of Kawambwa district says there is nothing wrong with President Edgar Lungu joking with Bembas who are his traditional cousins.
The traditional leader says traditional cousinship has been in existence in Zambia for a long time.
Senior Chief Mushota has explained that even leaders like himself are not excluded from traditional cousinship, as it transcends across status.
He said this when Housing and Infrastructure Development minister, Ronald Chitotela called on him at his palace in Mushota chiefdom this morning.
And Mr Chitotela said it is sad that some people have chosen to politicise the President’s statement on Bembas.
The minister also informed the traditional leader that Kawambwa will have its first radio station by March 2019.
He said the cry of the people of Kawambwa has been heard, as they will now be able to easily get information on developments in the district.
Mr Chitotela has dedicated to celebrating the coming of the new year with senior citizens in Kawambwa.
