President Edgar Lungu says the ruling party has pardoned independent Members of Parliament and has embraced them to work with the Patriotic Front-PF.
President Lungu says independent parliamentarians now have the blessings of the ruling party.
The Head of State said this when he introduced Wusakile Independent MP Pavyuma Kalobo and his Chimwemwe counterpart Mwila Mutale to a huge crowd at Kitwe’s Nakadoli market.
He said late President Michael Sata taught old PF members to always forgive those that could have left the party and now wanted to rejoin the family.
President Lungu urged members of the party to embrace such ideologies to grow the party.
And PF Secretary General Davies Mwila said the position of the party is that of working closely with independent MPs.
Mr. Mwila said the ruling party is also working with market associations across the country to enhance the welfare of traders.
And Minister of Home Affairs Stephen Kampyongo urged Zambians to show respect in their language to the office of the President.
Meanwhile, Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services Kampamba Mulenga called on the electorate in Chimwemwe not to listen to politicians who failed to improve their welfare when they were given a full five-year mandate.
Others that spoke at the public meeting at Nakadoli include Presidential Affairs Minister Freedom Sikazwe, Foreign Affairs Minister Joe Malanji, Copperbelt Province Minister Bowman Lusambo, National Planning and Development Minister Alexander Chiteme and Infrastructure and Housing Minister Ronald Chitotela.
