In Chilyapa Ward in Mansa Central Constituency, PF candidate Njikho Musuku polled 2,005 votes while his only rival Garagan Chanda of the UPND got 477 votes.
Chilyapa Ward Presiding Officer Robert Zimba declared Mr. Musuku as duly elected Councillor for Chilyapa Ward at 00:18 hours this morning.
And Mr. Musuku, who is also former Copperbelt University Students Union President says he will work hard to deliver on his campaign promises.
Meanwhile, PF Bahati Campaign Manager Chitalu Chilufya praised President Edgar Lungu for having allowed the party to adopt Musuku who is aged 24.
Dr. Chilufya, who is also Health Minister, said Mr. Musuku’s victory shows that President Lungu is embracing youths and positioning them for leadership.
And PF Luapula Province Chairperson Nixon Chilangwa said the party’s victory in Chilyapa Ward shows that the party is strong in the province.
Mr. Chilangwa, who is also Luapula Province Minister, advised Mr. Musuku to work hard and show the people of Chilyapa Ward that youths can deliver.
The PF has also scooped the Chinwandumba-Lingelengenda ward seat in Chavuma district in North-Western Province.
PF Candidate, Royd Mukangwa polled 569 votes while, his UPND rival Charles Pata got 277 votes.
Announcing the results at 21:40 hours, Returning Officer, Peter Zulu declared Mr Mukangwa as duly elected civic leader.
Mr Zulu said a total number of 850 votes were cast with four ballots were papers rejected.
Meanwhile, PF North-Western Province Chairperson, Jackson Kungo said the party’s victory indicates the confidence people in Chavuma have in the leadership of the PF.
And UPND has retained Makunku ward seat in Itezhi tezhi Constituency in Central Province.
UPND Candidate, Mpanda Mutande polled 648 votes against his closest rival PF’s Chuba Shimunga who polled 370 votes.
Returning Officer, Marina Mangani declared Mpamba Mutande as duly elected civic leader at 22:30 hours yesterday.
