Pillars of Peace Zambia Chairperson Justice Lombe Chibsakunda says Political Parties have a serious obligation to nurture and sustain peace in the country.
And Justice Chibesakunda has appealed to all political parties to assume leadership and immediately put a stop to the on-going violence in the Sesheke by election.
She says security agencies and political leaders must take full responsibility and control violent party cadres and supporters.
Justice Chibesakunda says there is need to take legal action against those that are found wanting for breaking the law.
She said this in a statement availed to ZNBC News in Lusaka.
The Former Chief Justice also appealed to the Electoral Commission of Zambia -ECZ – to monitor the conduct of all participating parties in the election and ensure they are in accordance with the set electoral guidelines.
She said Pillars of Peace Zambia will not fail to remind all political players that Zambians are peaceful and the violence that seems to occur during times of elections is Unzambian and being forced on citizens by selfish and greedy political interests.
