Mines Minister Richard Musukwa has directed management and workers at Lubambe mine in Chililabombwe to put their house in order to sustain production.
Mr. Musukwa’s directive comes in the wake of repeated reports of misunderstandings within the management hierarchy on one side and workers on the other.
This was after Mr. Musukwa, who is also Chililabombwe Member of Parliament, held a meeting with the management and workers representatives aimed at diffusing the seeming standoff.
The Minister disclosed that his office in the recent past has been overwhelmed by anonymous letters from individual members of staff complaining about overstepping of roles by others.
He has since called for an end to the misunderstandings at the mining firm to ensure operations continue without disruption.
And Lubambe mine Chief Executive Officer Nick Davis said management’s current focus is to ensure operations at the mine remain economically sustainable.
