Political parties taking part in the Roan Parliamentary by-election have pledged to conduct peaceful campaigns and dwell on issues.
Patriotic Front Roan Campaign Manager Richard Musukwa says the ruling party knows the challenges which the people in the area are facing and will address them during campaigns.
Mr. Musukwa, who is also Mines Minister, says the PF will be talking about job creation and legalizing the slug dump popularly known as the Black Mountain.
And his Deputy Campaign Manager Bowman Lusambo said President Edgar Lungu Heard the cries of the people of Roan by giving them Joel Chibuye, the immediate past Luanshya District Commissioner.
Mr. Lusambo, who is also Lusaka Province Minister, said Mr. Chibuye is better suited to win the seat because he has lived in Luanshya for a long time and was a Head Boy at Roan Antelope Secondary school which was the nomination center yesterday.
Meanwhile, PF Copperbelt Province Chairperson Nathan Chanda said the ruling party will not engage in violence during the campaigns.
Mr. Chanda, who is also Luanshya Mayor, urged PF supporters to start conducting door to door campaigns and ensure a huge turn out on polling day.
And People’s Alliance for Change -PAC Secretary General Gerald Mulawu said his party will stick to issues of development in Roan.
Mr. Mulawu said the future of Zambia is held by the youths and PAC will be discussing issues that can uplift the lives of people in Roan.
And United Prosperous and Peaceful Zambia -UPPZ Roan Candidate Morgan Banda said all political parties participating in the by-election must not use violence as a tool for campaigns.
Mr. Banda, who is 29 years old, said violence brings problems and all people campaigning must stick to issues.
Four candidates from the PF, NDC, UPPZ and PAC filed in their nomination papers for the Roan parliamentary seat yesterday which is slated for 11th April this year.
The Roan seat was declared vacant after Chishimba Kambwili who was elected on the PF ticket crossed the floor to the National Democratic Congress.
