Kwacha Member of Parliament Joe Malanji has directed the police on the Copperbelt not to relent in dealing with criminal gangs that have mushroomed in Kitwe district.

Mr. Malanji says the police must start foot and night patrols in Kitwe district and ensure all potential gangs are curbed.

He was speaking in Kitwe when he handed over a containerized police post to the police on the Copperbelt.

Mr. Malanji also expressed concern over burglary cases in most homes of Kitwe and has urged the police on the Copperbelt to address the situation.

And Copperbelt Police Chief Charity Katanga said the police will deploy officers to the new police post so that they can safeguard infrastructure such as the newly constructed Mufuchani bridge.

Ms. Katanga said the police post will operate 24/7 to ensure residents in Kwacha constituency are well secured.

And Mopani Chief Executive Officer Chris Vermeulen said his company prioritizes the safety of the community.
