President Edgar Lungu has wished First President Dr. Kenneth Kaunda personal good health.
Presidential press aide Amos Chanda says President Lungu is constantly in touch with the medical team treating the former president.
Mr. Chanda has told ZNBC news in an interview that the president will visit Dr. Kaunda any time this week.
Dr. Kaunda was yesterday discharged from the University Teaching Hospital after undergoing medical treatment.
Meanwhile, the United National Independence Party – UNIP- in Southern Province has praised government for taking care of First President Kenneth Kaunda during his short illness.
UNIP Southern Province Chairperson, Retired Captain Robert Mukengami, says the swift action and care from the government over Dr. Kaunda’s health should be commended by all.
Captain Mukengami has also praised the medical team that treated Dr. Kaunda.
Meanwhile, Captain Mukengami has appealed to the Ministry of Home Affairs to bring to book people that were spreading false rumours on social media of Dr. Kaunda’s death.
He says Dr. Kaunda is an icon who fought for the independence of the country and his illness should not excite any Zambian, to go on social media to spread lies about his health or demise.
