The University of Zambia management says it is working tirelessly to rehabilitate and clean its Great East road and Ridgeway campuses to meet the health standards before re-opening.
University of Zambia Registrar Sitali Wamundila says inspectors from the Ministry of Health and Lusaka City Council visited the two campuses for inspections on two occasions.
Mr. Wamundila says the inspectors will again visit the two campuses to check on progress by end of this month before deciding the re-opening date.
He says management is hopeful that the school will re-open after the last inspection.
Mr. Wamundila was speaking at a media briefing after a tour of sanitary facilities at the University of Zambia.
He told the media that one million kwacha has so far been spent to rehabilitate ablution blocks, mend water leakages and General improvement of water supply.
And Mr. Wamundila said management has put in place measures to ensure there will be no squatting taking place.
Meanwhile Mr. Wamundila has thanked the government for helping clear the debt of over two Billion Kwacha.
He has also thanked government for increasing the number of students on bursaries.
