Government has reiterated its call for contractors that have been given government contracts, to use local resources.
Minister of Defence Davies Chama says the country has companies that are producing high quality construction materials.
The Minister said this in Kawambwa District when he inspected construction works at the Kala 48 Marine Barracks.
This was after Mr. Chama was informed that all the materials being used for the project are being sourced locally.
The Minister said he is happy with the quality of the works and the pace at which the project is progressing.
The about 200 Million U.S dollar project will include the construction of over 700 housing units, schools, hospitals and sports facilities.
And the Minister said government would replicate such projects in other parts of the country.
Meanwhile, Asthrom Zambia Construction Company Managing director Guy Gross said 30 percent of the works have been done.
He said the company is working to put more structures before the onset of the rainy season.
