Vice President Inonge Wina says women empowerment remains one of government’s priorities.
Mrs. Wina says this is because government acknowledges that no meaningful development can take place without the empowerment of its citizens.
Speaking on arrival at Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport in Livingstone, Mrs. Wina said government will continue supporting and channeling inclusive empowerment programmes through various line ministries.
The Vice President is in Livingstone to officially open the 12th International Conference of the Girls’ Brigade.
And speaking earlier, Southern Province Minister, Edify Hamukale, informed the Vice President that the Patriotic Front women in the area have already formed cooperatives and all they need is empowerment.
Dr. Hamukale also informed Mrs. Wina of looming hunger in some districts of the province, which were affected by prolonged dry spells early this year.
He said Siavonga and Sinazongwe among other districts will need food support by November.
