Minister of Sports, Moses Mawere has attributed the country’s improved performance at local and international championships to youth sports programmes.
Mawere says the Teulings Youth Sports challenge has helped identify and nurture talent at grassroots level.
He says the programme which has been running for eight years has also benefited over 3 thousand children.
Mawere said this in a speech read on his behalf by Deputy Director of Sports Gisbon Muyaule.
This was during the 2018 Grand Finale of the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge held at the Olympic Youth development Centre -OYDC-.
And Teulings Foundation representative Hans Bertels said Zambia must be proud of the achievements it has made in the implementation of various sports programmes.
Meanwhile National Olympics Committee of Zambia -NOCZ-President Alfred Foloko said Zambia will now channel its energies to qualify to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
