State House says Zambia did not breach any International Law when it handed over former Zimbabwean Minister of Finance, Tendai Biti, to that country’s authorities.
Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations Amos Chanda says the government did not deport Mr. Biti but simply handed him over to the Zimbabwean authorities after being assured of his safety and a free and fair trial.
Mr. Chanda said Zambia is a civilised member of the international community and is in conformity with the international laws as well as the bilateral agreements between Zambia and Zimbabwe.
He said Zambia is looking forward to the return of peace and stability in Zimbabwe.
Mr. Biti has since appeared in the Zimbabwean court of law and has since been granted bail.
