Government says it will soon resume talks with Zimbabwe to address the issue of fishermen, who get arrested when they stray into that country’s side on Lake Kariba.
Fisheries and Livestock Permanent Secretary, David Shamulenge says government is concerned over this matter where talks have stalled for the past two years.
Dr. Shamulenge says government would like both parties to have a lasting solution on the utilisation of the shared water body.
He explained that the SADC protocols, member states are expected to work in harmony and facilitate cross border trade.
Dr Shamulenge has called upon the department of fisheries in Siavonga district to carry out sensitisation of fishers and surveillance operations on the utilization of Lake Kariba fishery.
