Defending Champions Zambia have been booted out of the COSAFA Under-17 Championship, after going down 2-1 to South Africa.
This was in their final Group B first round match of the ongoing COSAFA tournament in Mauritius.
Zambia gave away a 7th minute lead by Vincent Kalinda to allow Thando Buthelezi to equalise for the South Africans just five minutes later.
The young Zambians kept pushing for a win to overhaul the Amajimbos at the top of Group B, but were caught napping10 minutes from time when Boitumelo Radiopane found the winner for the South Africans.
This means South Africa top the group with SEVEN points and have sealed a semifinal qualification.
In Group A, Namibia also booked their semifinal ticket with a 2-nil victory over Botswana.
Meanwhile, a twenty-year-old British based goal keeper has expressed interest in playing for the Zambian National Football team.
Jay Milomo born to a Zambia father says he had always wanted to play for Zambia.
He told ZNBC that he is a free agent now following his decision to stop playing for Leads United so that he concentrates on writing his exams.
Milomo said the interest to play for the national team was further ignited when he watched the Zambia under twenty at the world cup.
He has since urged the Football Association of Zambia to give him a chance to prove his worth as he is read for any competition.
