State House says the huge number of investors that attended the Luapula Expo is an endorsement of the Zambian economy and leadership of President Edgar Lungu.
Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations Amos Chanda says foreign and local investors would not have attended the Expo, if the country’s economy was not doing fine.
Mr. Chanda says those that are peddling lies against the country to the outside world will not succeed.
He told ZNBC news that President Lungu is happy with the organisation and outcome of the Luapula Expo as it supports efforts to diversify the economy.
Mr. Chanda said this at City Airport shortly after the arrival of President Lungu from Luapula province last night.
Meanwhile, Mr. Chanda has announced that Chiefs from different parts of the country met on the sidelines of the Luapula Expo to discuss national unity and development.
He says the Chiefs who met under the auspices of the United Nations Development Programme affirmed their commitment to the promotion of peace in the country.
Mr. Chanda said the UNDP top leadership was happy with the Luapula Expo and has since offered to support other provinces that will host similar programmes.
And ZNBC’s Jeff Banda reports that President Lungu has made a passionate appeal to all traditional leaders to work with government in developing the country.
The Head of State says those Traditional leaders who do not want to work with government should reconsider their position.
The President was speaking in Mwansabombwe when he paid a courtesy call on Mwata Kazembe of the Lunda people of Luapula Province.
And Mwata Kazembe said he will not tolerate people fabricating falsehood about his Chiefdom and Government.
Meanwhile, the Zambian DNA has congratulated Luapula Province Minister Nickson Chilangwa and his team for successfully hosting the Luapula Expo.
Zambian DNA spokesperson Spuki Mulemwa says Mr. Chilangwa and his team need to be commended for the job well done in unlocking the economic potential of the whole province and beyond.
He says the Luapula EXPO is a home-grown initiative which is in line with government policy to industrialise the country through local and foreign investment.
Mr. Mulemwa is confident the expo will spur massive development in Luapula province which is one of the least developed areas in Zambia.
He has urged other provinces to emulate the initiative and replicate it in their respective areas.
And Mr. Mulemwa says under the leadership of President EDGAR LUNGU, the country is set to experience massive industrialisation and has called on all citizens to support the government.
This is contained in a statement issued to ZNBC News by Mr. Mulemwa.
